The GCC patent office announced that applicants seeking patent protection in the GCC member states may file their y patent applications directly with the GCC patent office as receiving office, as an alternative to filing with the competent National office.
The GCC Paten office with receiving and handle patent applications and undertake their formal and substantive examination, while the grant certificates (letters patents) will be issued by the local patent officers.
The new patent arrangement will go into effect on January 1, 2023, and will cover Bahrain and Kuwait, while other GCC countries are expected to follow shortly.
